Volvo Gallery

I bought my first Volvo when I was 18 years old. I was in college and delivering pizzas. A four door was out of the question, but what I really wanted was a Turbo. Well, at 18 I couldn't afford a Turbo. So I hot rodded a two door DL and I've been hooked ever since. I had three DLs until I bought my Porsche 928. I didn't come back to Volvos until ten years later when it was time to have a baby. We sold a Nissan 300ZX to buy a car with a back seat for the baby. The obvious choice (now that we could afford it) was a Turbo. Now we have an 89 Volvo 760 Turbo. We'll probably keep it until Debi is tall enough to drive the Suburban (heh heh). While surfing the internet, I happened upon Turbobricks--a site dedicated to Volvo Turbos. They had a mailing list that was supposed to be wonderful. Well, if you've ever signed up for a mailing list, you know that you might get a few emails everyday from the mailing list--or you might get a few hundred if the list has a busy day. I told them that they needed a message board (the internet version of a bulletin board--you go there to check the messages that people have left). They didn't have the time or interest...and the rest is history. I've been running their message board since May 98. Their hobby is making Camaro and Mustang drivers feel inadequate. Some members have squeezed well over 300 horsepower out of just four cylinders of a street driven Volvo. The images below are from my random surfing of Volvo sites.

242 Turbo.  The chrome roll cage (visible in the side window) should give a clue about its performance.

You have to be crazy to hot rod Volvos, as evidenced by this photo.

We've got 'em all.  From mild 740s...

...to wild 940s.  This particular 940 is not really a thoroughbred.  It has a Chevy small block V8 with tuned port fuel injection...a Swedish car located in Sweden with an American V8.
